Inn on the Lake Wedding

Trying my hand as a Cumbria wedding photographer with a Lake District wedding. But a Lake District needs a lake and Inn on the Lake does not disappoint being based by Ullswater. It’s a large Lake District wedding venue with a lawn that leads down to the Ullswater lakeshore.

This was my first time working as a wedding photographer but it was my sister’s wedding. Rachael and Martin loved their day and were happy for me to snap away. I used to always photograph bands, so this was a great opportunity for me to learn. They had a professional photographer, so I simply enjoyed the day and snapped a few moments when I could. I didn’t want to get in the primary photographers way and have since learnt how important that is.

My focus for the day was to capture not only the guests but also the decorations. So much thought goes into a wedding and those decorations take time. I know for a fact that my dad spent months building the mushroom postbox. I now pay special attention to all of the decorations at my couples’ weddings. When photographing guests, I’ve learnt that candid moments are so much more important. Posed shots can make a great calendar but candid photos really capture the emotions.
